Splitscreen, yay or nay?

How are your feelings towards the concept of splitcreen? For me, it's importan, why? well I actually do have friend IRL and i enjoy being able to play with them on the same screen. It's easy and if made proberly is can be just as fun - if not funnier - then playing online with random people.Sadly however, gaming companies doesn't seem to care much about it, and when they do they sometimes come up with a halfassed/tagged on multiplayer part that ends up doing more harm then good. It's not fair that the majority of games are ''only'' while not being offline multiplayer, I can't imagine that it's hard to make a prober offline multiplayer part if the online part is already alright. (?)But not all games are like that, I've played 4 player splitscreen on Call of Duty 4 and it was a blast, even though i'd like the same leveling system for offline as it's for online I still had plenty of good times with my friends in that game.I've played NHL 09 along with a friend of mine and it was really something different, when i get 1-2 more joysticks it'll be even better I imagine.anyways - what's your thought's? I know alot of computer gamers will be claiming online->offline but how about the rest/consololist's?Splitscreen, yay or nay?

YES!!!!

Someone who thinks like me

Split-screen > Online x 100

That's one thing that Consoles will always have over PCs.Splitscreen, yay or nay?

I agree with all of you wholeheartedly, and it's sad that this feature is rather omitted nowadays.
i dont like splitscreen because i always get distract by the other screen, and sometimes i get confused and thought the other screen was mine LOL
i kinda enjoy the online co-op more than splitscreen nowadays, most of my friends on psn/xbl are heaps better than my real life buddies so its nice to be able to play on a single screen while knowing your buddys not a moron

But when it comes to MP sort of things being able to turn to your friend and rub it into his face that you just beat him.

Then watch him slam his controller down and storm off.
Its a major console advantage, and its been lacking this generation in particular.
i like lan parties more than split screen .
Nay.2 scenarios. Either my friends know how to play a game properly or not.

If they know how to play it, chances are that they own the game, so online play is the way to go.

If they dont, then i'll pwn everyone = not fun.

lol yeah i do miss that feeling from the old system link4 xbox and play halo days...but on a 1screen MP match i tend to ''screenlook'' for that advantage
I agree. I love splitscreen co-op and comp. But also enjoy it online. Here is where Resistance 2 will shine for me, with splitscreen co-op and comp both offline and online. THAT is awesome.
Yay. Splitscreen rocks my jocks.
Splitscreen sucks. It's fun on fighting games, racing games, sports games, etc. but it just doesn't work in RTS games, shooting games, etc.
don't care for it, lan is far more important
sometimes, but the amount times I've used it to my advantage or someone playing me has..... I enjoy from time to time, but prefer online gaming, I see split screen multi player more of a mess around with mates.
I enjoy Split Screen alot, especially if it's implemented well into a game. In example, LoTR The Return of the King had fantastic co-op play. :)
It's a defining feature of consoles, and it's sad to see developers letting this critical differentiator slip away.56'' DLP + splitscreen + 4 controllers == awesome.

Screencheating is part of Split screen. It adds to the fun when a whole fight starts over it
I love split screen and have fond memories of 4 player death matches 8) but split screen co op is even better, its far better when your team mate is sitting next to you (and you can send them to get you a beer :D).
