It costs the most of the 3, least developer support, hardest arkitecture for programming, bluray isnt exactly considered the next dvd, least lifetime sales, least multiplat sales, lost its casual appeal to Wii, loosing massive amounts of money, numerous delays and bad multiplats (even in 08 ). Why is it a 10 year console....because Sony says so? :roll: Keep in mind PS1 and PS2 are where they are because they were MARKET LEADERS. PS3 is last and has little of what made PS1 and PS2 so great. How many times do we have to go over this? People take the ''10-year plan'' way too seriously, they're looking into it too much.Sony only means they'll support the console well after it's launch like they did with the PS1 and PS2. They'll still sell accessories, they'll still offer customer support, they'll even continue manufacturing consoles well into the next-generation of consoles when PS4 and 720 are here. That's all they mean. They don't mean it's gonna have a bunch of non-stop amazing games coming out from 2006-2016. They just mean that they're not going to completely abandon it when the next gen comes.

[/QUOTE] PS3 sales are behind those of the PS2 at the same time in it's lifespan, but significantly ahead of PS1 sales. And the PS1 eventually reached 102 million units sold over 11 years. So the 10 year lifespan is possible, although I think it'll be closer to 8.
I always assumed the 10 year thing was similar to how the PS2 still has games releasing on it despite the fact it's been superceded by the PS3. PS3 is last but I was under the impression that it's been steadily outselling the 360 worldwide this year, couple that with hardware that wasn't forged from old power ranger dolls and yeah. I'd say it's futureproof.

But what about my points like being the hardest to develop for....how the multiplats sell the least....how it looses a ridiculous amount of money? It's the most expensive because of its features (especially that one that's...i dont know -- blu-ray player...)
B.) It's getting plenty of killer games, this isn't November 2006.
C.) Blu-Ray is considered the next format 0_o
D.) Normally multiplats sell less on the console with the smaller usebase, this has what to do with future proof?
E.) Who says all casuals want is a Wii, and nothing else?
F.) Sony is losing money, PS3 is an inaminate object. Your learning a lot today!

I doubt the PS3 will be selling next gen like the PS2 is selling this gen and if they don't have the sales to support it then it won't be supported. That said, in comparison it will seem futureproof compared to MS considering your only going to be playing your 360 for 3 years.

Also i dont play scores, i've played everything from HAZE, to Alone in the Dark to Army of Two, so what all those problems arnt mine to deal with if devs really wanted to learn they'd look at EA, mirrors edge, so what it has a tiny bit different contrast, Dead Space Identical, Burnout Paradise identicle, I mean it cant be that hard if EA is doing it.

Its selling and doing better in every way than the 360 so PS3 is second and Wii first.

One was because of Fable 2. One was age although so many years later all my consoles still work but anyway, he had it since launch. One was just out of nowhere, that friend has had his 360 for less time than me.
Regardless of whether you're a fanboy or not I completely agree. It's naive of Sony to claim the PS3 will be a 10 year console when it's faring far worse than it's predecessors.
