Wrath of the Lich King is right around the corner, and WoW is at 11 MILLION ACTIVE subscribers, that is truly impressive for a game with a subscription fee. I quit about 4 months ago but I'm downloading the latest patches(1.6gig worth) and I'm heading back into the land of Azeroth. My question to System Wars is this, who do so many of you consolites hate on WoW, it's a blizzard RPG, everyone loves Blizzard games, it's online(My server has over 17 THOUSAND players), you consolites flip if a game doesn't have online, it has more replay value then every console exclusive this gen put together, the gameplay is great, the lore is great, the polish is unbelievable, it has the Blizzard touch of Gold, GREAT humour, constant content updates, you'll never find a cheater, bugs are fixed extremely fast. The only problem I have with WoW is it's so addicitive you end up not playing anything else, but in the end this is because WoW kicks ***.WoW Ownz Your Soul.
I don't hate on WoW, I just know that I could play 50 other really good games in the time it would take me to get through WoW %26 I don't have to shell out monthly fees for it. Plus, although there is a huge following for MMO's, you just have to realize that it's not for everyone. Personally, the original Everquest just burned me out on them forever. WoW Ownz Your Soul.
I agree, especially about the replay value. Only MMORPGS and RTS hold my interest for long, and some shooters. Other than that every game is basically a rental (even though I don't rent lol). It's why I keep WOW around. Especially during gaming droughts, seriously sometimes there's NOTHING to play, WoW is good for that.
I'm just not a big fan of grinding. As many have put it, WoW is a game that rewards quantity rather than quality - in terms of time invested.
I love the game. Though I am not to addicted to it. There is too much grinding and everything is about getting armour and the battle style sucks. I wish it was like Oblivion.

[/QUOTE]It's ironic, never have I had so many cool games to play on my laptop (Mass Effect, Dead Space, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3) and yet the urge to go back into WoW is greater then ever before lol. There is something about playing single player games that just doesn't do it for me anymore. Not that I can't enjoy a good SP experience, MGS4 was Godly.

I def prefer console over PC gaming but I have played WoW for over two years now. Theres just so much to do and you get so much more play time for your money compared to the average console game. My account expires around the same time WOTLK comes out and I won't be renewing it/buying WOTLK with COD5/Gears 2 coming out around the same time. I might get the xpac sometime after the Christmas holidays though.

I do have friends with tons of 70's, they can get a char to 70 in under 2 days playing time.

Unfortunately, that'll be a while off - My schedule is very tight for most of the school year.
I don't hate (I don't even hate WoW, just dislike it) on WoW from a consolite's view because I'm not a consolite, I'm a PC gamer first. I find to many of Blizzard's decisions to be horrible to go back.

I have just come off a month in Warhammer Online, lot's of potential but I think I'll wait until the potential is realised, the game is very unfinished atm.
Clearly you havn't been playing WoW for 4 years like me. BELIEVE ME, you will eventually look at what you are saying now and realize that eventually its all going to be for naught (other than a good time of course). Most people see building lifetime relationships with real people vs. cyber friends being more important. You will eventually be grossed out on the whole MMO thing if you keep going. Its like taking that extra bite out of a cheeseburger and suddenly feeling so sick that to eat another bite would make you puke.

You pay 15$ for it. 15$ for a game that has nothing but grinding. Also the art direction and style suck (IMO) and it's just... Meh.I'd rather play EVE Online or Runescape. People ask me why I play Runescape (I don't pay btw) and say that WoW is teh winz0rz but I don't care.. I can play Runescape for free and it satisfies all my grinding lusts.
I simply hate mmorpg, especially does that cost something. Although I love and respect blizzard more than ever, WOW simply is not worth it imo. But at the bright side, it does give financial support for new blizzard games.

I don't hate WoW, I played a bit on my bros account and it was okay. I'm never going to play another MMORPG though, after what happened with RuneScape.*shudder* I was addicted to that game... I'm just afraid I'll get sucked in like that again.Well, actually, I do sort of hate WoW. Just for stealing my brother away from me.
