Standards have changed dramatically since then. Much of what oblivion introduced into the rpg genre has become standard.You cannot review this game to the same standards of a game from 2 years ago. If we did that then everything left right and centre would be getting 10s. and 2 years later EVERYTHING would get a 10.
This should be.....How the hell did Oblivion get the score it did. Fallout 3s ok. That is quite realistic. Oblivions is bizzare. Neways seeing games like FO1/2, Planescape Torment ect. score so lower than Oblivion on PC is also bizzare.

Its not that they underscored Fallout 3, its that they Overrated Oblivion. You also have to take into account the time differece. Standards go up every year.
Just like Gears 2, Gamespot have got past the glitz and graphics of these overated games.

[/QUOTE]in a nutshell really.fallout 3 is a awesome game one of my favs this gen but i do see why it was given a 9.0 in respect to what mrCake said.Gears2 was quite surprised at the 9.0 but then i havent played it to judge
what i dont get isa how did gears 2 score a 9.0 when gears 1 scored a 9.6 and almost every1 who plays gears 2 says its much much much better than gears 1
Probably because the combat is a kludge. The game is great outside of combat, but terribly uneven in combat. Aside from that, it doesn't really bring much improvement to the Oblivion formula. It's a very good game, but it doesn't deliver the killer goods. I'd probably have rated it an 8.0.
