Sony hints at future third party downgra ...

Games to lead on PS3 as it's ''easier to lead with the most powerful, both in terms of AI and graphics''. Speaking in a recent interview with VideoGamer.com, Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing director Ray Maguire has suggested that future multi-platform titles from third-parties will be led on PS3 and will have to be downgraded for systems with weaker processors.Discussing the topic of third-party publisher support on the PS3, Maguire said: ''I think we now have an install base which is big enough for any third party to want to develop for. Now the decision making part of development is which do you lead your development on? Is it easier to lead with the most powerful, both in terms of AI and graphics, i.e. PS3 and then just remove part of the functionality for the processors that aren't quite as strong? I would imagine that's very much part of the thought process now from a studio development point of view.''We're already seeing multi-format titles being lead on PS3, including the great looking Mirror's Edge from DICE, but judged on the released demo the game still looks marginally sharper on Xbox 360.LINKY Sony hints at future third party downgra ...
on top of that, 360 will have little or no exclusives in 2009 and beyondSony hints at future third party downgra ...
Of course he will, yet in the mean time, the PS3 is still getting shoddy ports.
This has already been posted. Also it is nothing but more Sony spin. Sad the fanboys still buy into it.Also even the writter of the arcticle said this-We're already seeing multi-format titles being lead on PS3, including the great looking Mirror's Edge from DICE, but judged on the released demo the game still looks marginally sharper on Xbox 360.
on top of that, 360 will have little or no exclusives in 2009 and beyond
Be quiet. And there's already a topic on this. Just more boring Sony PR.
So Sony say that games developed for the PS3 will have to be downgraded to go to the 360. So they make Mirror's Edge for the PS3 but instead of being downgraded it looks marginally sharper on the 360. So where is the downgrade? This just sound like Sony trying to over hype the PS3 again.
lawl fallout 3?I dont think sony is in a position to comment on the PS3's ''Supossebly Superior'' multiplat games at the moment.
Not likely, Considering most 360 multiplats are also on PC if dev will ever want to pick lead platform based on power he will pick PC, if only on popularity he will pick 360, PS3 will be left behind in most cases as it provides neither
''if you want both games to look good, then focus on the weaker platform''--sony
if they want to downgrade they need to upgrade to above 360 lvl first
Despite Sony's blatant propaganda, haven't most multi-plats led on the PS3 been the TRUEST multi-plats, the ones with the most equality on both systems? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not really versed in all of this.
We'll see how FF13 is on the 360 then, shall we?
They've been saying it day 1. People use the ps3 as the lead cause it's the weakest, it's easier to lower the 360s graphical power down to match it. If anything, us poor 360 owners are already getting downgrades. Lets just hope more devs choose to stick PC/360 and forget the DowngradeStation.
He thinks and he would imagine, but it basically boils down to he hopes because so far multiplats are near indistinguishable :|. Anyway how many multiplats were lead developed for the more powerful platform then ported down last gen? looked to me like they were all made on the PS2 then enhanced on the xbox.
We'll see how FF13 is on the 360 then, shall we?
If FF13 (somehow) ends up being better on the 360, then Sony is in alot of trouble. But I think they'll be the same, with maybe a slight edge going to the PS3.

Then again it is the lesser of two evils vs it being better on the 360.
Just Wait. Oh Sony we've heard it all before.

were we not hearing this last year? Supposedly all the 2008 titles would see PS3 being the better version....yet this comment is made right after Fallout 3 released lol.......At some point we have to see it to believe it. I keep hearing how PS3 is more powerful ect.....where's the proof?
This just in: McDonalds and Coca Cola executives also claim THEIR companies are great! Late breaking news!
