Some people think that any form of cel-s ...

People think using ''creative'' and ''artistic'' graphics always look better than ''crappy, boring'' ones. Valkyria Chronicles seriously looks disgusting, and I think it only gets praise for its graphics because people think they have to like the graphics because they are ''artistic.'' I don't know why people feel this way. Most games with a good art style are overrated to the max. The Wind Waker was awesome, but sometimes I feel people only say it was better than the other 3D games because of its ''art style.''Just felt like venting. What do you guys think about being ''artistic'' and all that crap? Some people think that any form of cel-s ...
I agree, cell shading is typically an overused technique to cover up bad graphics. The only games to use it right were the Windwaker, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, and the best- jet set radio future.Upcoming Prince of Persia looks to do it right also.I'm sorry, but this does not look goodthis however does'and so does this Some people think that any form of cel-s ...

I just think it gets more credit than it deserves BECAUSE of the cel-shading. It looks awesome with the cel-shading, but not to the point where I would put it above Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask just because of that.I haven't played Okami, so I can't say, but that looks terribly boring.
Nope, sorry I think it looks great. It's something different and it looks good, don't like it then don't look at it.
I think Valkyria Chronicle's art style is alright, it's nothing to marvel at. A good art style can make an OK game amazing, I think.
Valkyria Chronicles, looks much, much, much better in-game, then in all the screens, I didn't know what to expect, since the screens and even videos don't make it look too great, but when you're actually playing it, it looks really good.
You're right. It can be ''artistic'' and still look like crap, but reviewers are always more lenient.

Majora's mask was better than both of those though.Okami is boring as crap, dont play it.But again, the picks I posted show the people wihtout eyes that just because something is artisticly styled, doens't mean it looks good grpahically.
I don't get the praise for Wind Waker, I got it when I picked up a GC for TP and had to wait like another 2 years, the art style is good, but spending 90% of your time on water, is not a zelda game, and a lot of the characters looked kind of lame, like ganon, Zelda: Water World definatly doesn't compare to OOT in the slightest. Edit: its also impossible to justify the part where you have to look for map pieces to find tri-force pieces, that was one of the most tedious parts of any zelda, next to re-visiting that one dungeon about a dozen times in Phantom Hourglass.
It just so happens that most of my favorite games lately have been cel-shaded. Wind Waker, Okami, Tales of Vesperia, JSRF, Paper Mario, PM: TTYD, Eternal Sonata, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Phantom Hourglass.

IMO cel shaded games dont really look good in screen shots. Its more of a motion thing.

This is a PS3 game. And TC, I disagree. I love cell shading more than realistic graphics. If I want realism, I'll just go outside or I'll watch a TV in HD.

But compare it to stuff like tales and whatnot. Not bashing the games actually quality, but graphically it's full of meh. Here's one of those videos you requested: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40569.html

You want to see good cell shading with good graphics? Here you go:http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41113.html(prince) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39721.htmltalesSeriously, if valkyrie chronicles wasn't covered in a cell shaded blur, it wouldn't look on par with splinter cell

You have to have the game in front of you on your tv. That is if you have a good tv. I played the demo a good amount of times and the game looks beautiful on my tv.
90 percent of the game is an exaggeration, but I also didn't like that part of it. That really brought it down. That and the Triforce fetch-quest for Shards really was just an excuse to artificially lengthen the game. I thought it was a pain watching Link ride a freaking sailboat and... run into **** that you had to deal with it on the way. They could've implemented the sailing in a much, much better way. I hate when someone goes, ''You have to go to X island.'' ''Oh, yay! Now I have to sail for five to ten minutes so I can talk to some guy that will tell me to go to Z island.''The islands in Phantom Hourglass were closer together, but you had to switch between islands a lot more.I still loved both, though. They are the weakest 3D Zelda games, in my opinion, though.
you're a nintendo lover, why are you talking about graphics...
Valkyria Chronicles does a fantastic job looking like an aquarel painting game.If you want to see fail cellshading, look at burst limit.
