There's nothing like playing a game to completion and experiencing it the way the developer intended. Also more and more games are becoming non-linear. Thus allowing the game to be played through many times and with a different feel each time. This is all well and good but sometimes I'm still left wanting more.Back in the days of 8-32 bit gaming, some games offered rewards to players who could beat the game a certain way. Super Metroid(pauses to bow and bestow gratitude) had a different ending not only depending on your completion% but also how fast you beat the game. To get the best ending you had to beat the entire game and get 100% completion in 2 and 1/2 hours!!! I've still never done this but I've been very close.Resident Evil 2 also had similar rewards, Infinite Rockect Launcher ring any bells? I didn't see too much last gen but with trophies and achievements it's making a comeback. Mass Effect has achievements for things like playing through the game with only certain squadmates.Anyway, for those games that don't get rewards, you can still get a lot of replay value out of some of your favorite games by being creative! Some of my favorites are:Final Fantasy VII: Finish game without using green materia or if you want a real challenge, without using any materia.Castlevania:Symphony of the Night: Beat the game without using any armor.Falbe 1/2: Beat the game using only will/melee/ranged attacks.Kingdom Hearts: Finish the game without using magic.(Actually not that hard) / Reach Sephiroth and beat him before reaching level 65.(A little more hard:P)Soul Calibur: Finish arcade mode on hard^ using only the kick and block button, no weapons.Metroid Prime: Finish the game without using any missiles except for locks and doors.Halo 1/2/3: Beat the game on easy using only melee and vehicles / Beat the game on normal using only melee, grenades and vehicles(except Tartarus because I'm pretty sure that's impossible.Ninja Gaiden: Beat the game on hard^ using only the Dragon Sword, no Unlabored Flawlessness. There are tons more. Feel free to share any you have done or think would be cool, or any games that have similar tasks built into them that you think are cool.Want Near Infinite Replay Value? Anyone who beats Halo 3 SLASO has my infinite respect. :oWant Near Infinite Replay Value? Handic ...
I remember how awesome it was when I got all 120 stars in Super Mario 64.

I feel ya man.. and boy does your idea fit me well. because i'm cheap.lol just playing.Tried that in MGS.. with no alerts. In RE4 just used knife, or no weapon upgrades ( an people say they give you too much ammo).
MVC2 hardest difficulty - Cable, Storm, Akuma( i don't know any other combination that could possibly work, i can't even fathom one without cable).
Contra..hard. 'nuff said.

I do this with alot of my games. I just wish it was an actualy feature programmed into the game so that you could chose which attacks/skills to prohibit from use. It would make sure you dont ''accidently'' use the ability and that there is no temptation, also it would make you more credible when you tell your friends your accomplishment if the game also says it.
Here's one:Beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on Path of the Mentor or above without any health items or increasing your health bar.I beat that, it was fun.
Dead Space use Plasma Cutter only(achievement if you do)Blue Dragon have all shadows the same job - this gets really hard, there are only a couple of jobs that could do this, you also need to rely heavily on items if you try it.
Anyone who beats Halo 3 SLASO has my infinite respect. :o
I was going to give it a shot this weekend, hopefully it isn't a giant **** storm.
I've always thought this one was nuts:(MGS4) Big Boss Emblem: Beat the game on the highest difficulty with no deaths, no alerts, no kills, no recovery items, no stealth suit, no bandanna items, in under 5 hours.

Famine allone would absolutely destroy any chance you have I'd think.
I've beaten first Condemned on hard difficulty using melee ONLY, and I was dissapointed that Bloodshot didn't feature such achievement anymore, and I was actually forced to use firearms on the last level which was kind of letdown...
Actualy, i'm trying right now to beat super mario world without the switch blocks

The only proof I have that I beat FFVII without materia is my word of mouth. As you can imaine, I've come across many skeptical people.:(
I beat resident evil 4 using only the knife (other than boses and enmies that were unreachable with the knife) it was a blast. hard but fun. when I beat the last boss with a knife swipe i really felt like a ninja (of course the last boss you eventually have to shoot a rocket at it.)
Yep. You get an emblem after you finish the game and based on how you play you will get different emblems. I think people in MGO can see your emblems (not 100% sure tho).
I also beat windwaker with counter attack only (on eneimes it worked on.) that took forever.
