Hi, I was just in a forum which said that beaid should be counted as an AAAE on the 360. I know there have been some topics on games before but now that there are more DL games out I thought it would be interesting to see if opinions have changed at all.I wills tart of by saying that I dont think they should. In the end they are not as high priced as proper games. So you cant expect as much. They usually do not hav the same quality of graphics either. They dont last as long and lets be honest here they are never really as good. They should be reviewed with different criteria. And I am guessing they are. People try to say that since braid is AAA its comparable to proper games. BUT if we do that the with that logic braid is a better game than gears of war 2. And can we really say that this short game could even be compared with gears 2? Can any DL game be compared with it? I dont think so. I have created a oll but write your opinion too. Do yo think braid can be compared to real games like halo 3, gears of war 2 and MGS4? If you have a different view to me say so. Im interested to see what people think :)Should downloadable games be directly co ...
No, they shouldnt be directly compared but they shouldnt be ignored either. Im not even going to go there though, im too tired:PShould downloadable games be directly co ...
depends. Downloadable games normally have lower budgets. I normally would say no, but i think it should be treated like DS and PSP games even though those games will still have higher budgets then d/l games.I will say this d/l games should not be compared to retail games for consoles, but can be compared to DS and PSP type games. Since in reality they go for the same audience, which is a quick pick up and play game.
I'm voted yes, simply for the fact I derive much enjoyment from several DL games.
I do think that DL games should count, but for less than normal games. How much less? I don't have any formula or anything, I don't know how something like that could ever be worked out.
They should count, period. A game is a game.
they can be compared to other downloaded games but to compare to a full retail game...NOis like comparing stick pool(internet downloadable game) to virtua pool(full retail game).....you can see the point
Downloaded games like GunZ and Gunbound are in a different league than proper games. I choose no
No they shouldn't. Because if they were compared directly NONE of them would be AAA.
No because they aren't rated the same.
No they shouldn't. Because if they were compared directly NONE of them would be AAA.
Well, they can be AAA just not in the same league as let's say Diablo II. S4 League is a very good third person shooter, and is considered AAA by dl free standards.

TC I think should have made this thread when PS3 owners get a AAA game from a d/l game. At least this way they will not be bias. I still say no though.
Games are games. And sure...Braid doesn't have the production values of Gears2, but at the same time it costs 6 times less.Separating games is silly, especialy since almost every downloadable indie game on PC is also sooner or later avaible in retail and almost every retail game is avaible for download too
absolutely, why shouldnt they? some of the best and more interesting games this gen are small downloadabale games on various services. braid being one. lostwinds is also very kewl (it recieved an undeserved pasting here imho) as is FF my life as a king (a nice spin on the FF franchise...id love to see a retail full price game with a far more developed version of it). wipeout on PSN is also very nice (especially if u havent played either PSP game) and echochrome is kewl also. puzzle quest eats lives also.
To all the people who voted only if they are available in retail, World Of Goo is available as retail on PC and only downloadable on Wii. Does that mean it doesn't count. What's the logic behind that?

The only reason any DL game can get a AAA score is directly related to cost and quality, wether it is downloadable or not.

What's the logic behind that?
Burnout paradise is a proper game that became DL. I made it a choice because what do you count the game as? Warhawk is available both ways but its obviously a high budget game. Its a difficult one and thats partly why I put it there.
downloaded game should not be taken on the same level. Example, Braid 9.5 < Crysis or halo 3 9.5.These arcade game are more a gimmick to remind you how crappy it was to play games before the 3d ;), except for Mario of course.
